Ingredients
- Wholewheat flour : 1 cup
- Baking powder : 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking soda: 1/3 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon or 2 pinches
- Sugar/ Honey : 1 tablespoon
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Banana: 1
- Vanilla essence: 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
- Egg: 1
Preparation
- Combine the ingredients from 1 to 4.
- Mix together the sugar and egg and beat it well.
- Mash the banana using a fork until smooth.
- Combine the beaten egg, mashed banana, milk and the vanila essence.
- Pour the banana mixture into the dry ingredients. Fold the batter with a spatula. It will be thick and lumpy.
- Heat a pan and add little butter. Spoon the batter on the pan and cook until some bubbles appear on top.
- Flip the pancake and cook 1-2 minutes.
Repeat the same with the remaining batter.
Top up the pancakes with some butter and maple syrup/ honey.
Extra Tips
You can blend together the all the ingredients in a mixer grinder or a blender to save time. If you like to get a bite of the banana slices in the pancake, it’s good to mash the bananas using a fork rather than blending.
You can use Almond milk instead of Cow’s milk for a nutty flavor.
You can use some butter flavored oil spray to make it more healthy.
Serve the kids with some extra buttered pancakes. They will love it.
