Ingredients
- 5 Tomatoes
- Onion: 1 No.(Medium sized finely chopped)
- Garlic: 5 cloves(finely chopped)
- Capsicum/green pepper: 1/4 th(finely chopped)
- Black pepper powder: 1/2 tsp
- Kashmiri chilli powder: 3/4 tsp
- Oregano: 1 tsp
- Basil: 1 tsp
- Chilly flakes: 1/3 tso
- Vinegar: 1 tso
- Sugar: 1 tsp
- Tomato ketchup: 2 tbsps
- Salt: to taste
- Olive oil: 2 tbsps
Method
1. Make a cross on each tomato.
2. Boil water in a pan and place the tomatoes. Let it boil for 5-8 minutes.
3. Remove from heat and wash the tomatoes in cold water.
4. Peel the tomatoes and roughly chop them. Transfer to a grinder jar and grind to a fine paste.
5. Heat a pan and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the chopped onion,and garlic. Saute till translucent. Add 3 tablespoons of finely chopped green pepper. Saute for a minute.
6. Add the pureed tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of pepper powder, 3/4 teaspoon kashmiri chilli powder, half teaspoon of sugar and salt to taste. Stir and cook for 8-10 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
7. Add 1 teaspoon of dried/fresh basil, 1 teaspoon of Oregano 3/4 teaspoon of chilly flakes, 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 2 tbsps tomato ketchup. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
8. Remove from heat and allow it to cool down. Homemade pizza sauce is ready.
You can keep it in the refrigerator in an air tight container for a week.
