Custard Halwa

Ingredients

  1. Custard powder: 1/2 cup
  2. Sugar: 1 cup
  3. Lukewarm water: 1 cup
  4. Salt: a pinch
  5. Pineapple essence: 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
  6. Chopped Cashews/flaked Almonds: 1 tablespoon
  7. Ghee: 3 tablespoons

Preparation

1. Add 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of custard powder and pinch of salt to a large bowl. Mix well.

2. Add 1 cup of lukewarm water and 1/4 teaspoon of pineapple essence and mix well using a whisk. Strain the mixture to make sure that there are no lumps. Keep it aside.

3. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan. Roast the cashews/Almonds. Reduce the heat to medium.

4. Pour the custard mixture to the pan. Stir continuously.

5. Once the mixture thickens and starts to separate from the pan, add 1 tablespoon of ghee.

6. Stir until the mixture turns glossy. It will take around 8-10 minutes.

7. Turn off the heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate or a tray.

8. Once it is cooled, cut into desired shape and enjoy.
