Ingredients
- 2 cups Soya Chunks
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
- 3/4 cup shredded coconut (fresh/desiccated)
- 1/3 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsps coconut/sunflower oil
Method
Add 2 cups of Soya chunks to boiling water. Add salt. Allow it to boil for 6-8 mins. Remove from heat and strain.
Pour cold water into it. Squeeze out the excess water using a slotted spoon or hand.
Allow to cool down. Crush the soya chunks roughly using a food processor (do not grind finely). Keep aside.
Heat 2 tbsps of oil in a pan. Add 2 chopped onion and 1 chopped green chilli and salt to taste. Saute until translucent.
Add 1/3 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tbsp coriander powder and 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder. Saute for a minute.
Add 3/4 cup shredded coconut(you can use either fresh or the desiccated one. In this recipe, I used desiccated coconut). Mix well.
Add the crushed soya chunks. Add 1 tsp garam masala and 1 tbsp vinegar. Add salt if required. Mix well.
Fry until the soya chunks start turning brown. It will take 20-25 mins.
Remove from heat and serve with roti or rice.
