Churros

Churros

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour/maida
  • 4 medium eggs or 3 large eggs
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp + 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • sunflower oil for frying

Method

Heat 3 tbsp of butter in a sauce pan.

Once the butter is melted, add 1 tbsp of sugar and 1/3 tsp of salt. Mix well.

Reduce heat and add 1 cup flour. Mix well for a minute.

Add 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water and 1 tsp vanilla essence. Mix well until the mixture comes together like a dough and is smooth.

Transfer to a bowl and allow to cool down slighlty.

In the meantime, heat enough oil in a pan to fry the churros(the oil should not be too hot). Add 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon in a bowl/plate. Mix well and keep it aside. Make ready the piping bag fitted with a rounded star tip. Use ziplock, if you don’t have a piping bag.

Once the dough is warm enough to touch, add 4 medium eggs, one at a time and combine well.

Spoon the batter into a piping bag.

Pipe the batter into the preheated oil, about 5-6 inches length( Remember not to add too much.) Reduce the heat to medium.

Cook for few minutes on each side until golden brown.

Transfer to kitchen towel to drain off the excess oil and roll immediately in the cinnamon sugar. ( Otherwise the sugar may not stick properly.)

Repeat with the remaining batter and serve warm with your favorite dip. It taste good even without a dip though.
